Let's Work Together

A note from the creator of our logo

A visual identity and logo are outward expressions of the personality and energy of the brand they represent. Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Art’s mission is to grow and champion sustainable and successful careers in the arts, which is of mutual benefit to the students studying law at the U of M so that they can put their practical skills to use.

As an artist, having access to an individual who understands law and can answer questions with solid legal advice is invaluable. The majority of my clients work in music and other artistic fields, and I will certainly be recommending this service whenever it comes up. I know that for musicians, authors and other creatives navigating contracts and other legal documents can feel overwhelming, and having someone sort through these things without the hefty price tag is a welcome service.

Manitoba has a unique arts community, perhaps due to our long winters, or relatively small population or due to the fact that the cost of living is a lot less expensive than in other major Canadian hubs, our creative community seems to be constantly putting out world class Art.

This logo represents the reciprocal relationship between the law students and Manitoban creatives, it shows the two interacting to create a wheel, a dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship that serves both groups. Because the program is run through University of Manitoba, we have taken the blues from the main logo as well as the fonts used in this logo. We have added our own shades of blue to compliment the monochromatic design.
I think after this brand is launched it will be a very valuable resource for both the arts community as well as the legal students. Creatives will be able to access quality advice without the typical costs associated with legal help and the law students will get real life experiences interacting with real legal documents and clients. A win-win for all involved!
